What are Personal Power Retreats? Personal Power retreats are about taking a "time-out" from your daily life and using this time to celebrate the Power that is within you. These retreats give you the opportunity to connect with other like-minded souls, spend time in nature, relax, and feed your spirit with whatever it is calling for.
Every retreat is different, however every retreat has a similar theme: "Do It All...OR...Do Nothing At All". Embrace Your Power & do what you CHOOSE to do. There is never any pressure to participate in any of the activities. And yet....you might find that you can't resist wanting to participate.
Where are the retreats held? They are held at The Light Center, a Natural Sanctuary and Retreat Center located on 35-Acres of Sacred Land in Baldwin City, KS. It is 30 minutes south of Lawrence, KS. Below is a picture of the 121-year old remodeled barn. For more information visit www.lightcenter.info - or click on the link below.
When did these retreats begin? The First Personal Power Recovery Retreat was held on October 18, 2014. It began as one overnight retreat held at The Beautiful Light Center in Baldwin City, Kansas. From that one retreat, the Personal Power Recovery Retreat Program was born. Over the past 4 years, this program has expanded from a single over-night experience into an entire weekend getaway for anyone who is in need of some Rest & Relaxation and anyone who is looking for a boost in their process of recovering and discovering their Personal Power ~ a process that never ends.
What are the Activities? Friday night starts with a Self Discovery Quest that takes you through the lands of The Light Center. This is a journey you take on your own. There are stations set-up along a path, with various activities at each station. Dinner and snacks are available all evening. Once everyone has returned from their quest, we gather around a bon fire to share our journey and "officially" start our weekend together. Saturday morning begins with an opening circle, either before or after a Spiritual Stretching Session (i.e.. yoga). Saturday activities vary greatly from retreat to retreat. Past activities include: an entire day of Breathwork, making Vision Boards, guided meditations, doing experiments from Pam Grout's book E-Squared, watching movies, Pilates classes, preparing for a Sweat-Lodge Ceremony, and more. There is ALWAYS plenty of time for Great Conversations and Rest and Relaxation. Most people usually find time to take a nap, lay on the bio-mat or in the hammock, journal, or just walk around and explore the beautiful Light Center.
Saturday evening always calls for a ceremony of some sort. At least half of these are Sweat-Lodge Ceremonies. (A picture of the Sweat-Lodge Ceremonial Space is below.)
Sunday morning is completely laid-back. We have extra time for coffee and conversation and a wonderful brunch. Some retreats include more Spiritual Stretching, Breathing, or Meditating. Sometimes an optional 12-Step Meeting is held for those who are recovering from ANYTHING - whether it is codependency, food, alcohol, drugs, gambling, or any other variety of addiction. We always close with one final circle together and some sort of celebration.
